Collecting Samples

If you are interested in collecting a sample of asbestos for identification to either send or drop off to us, below is a step by step guide.

  1. Buy 2 zip lock bags from your local hardware or supermarket.
  2. Always wear a disposal duct mask when handling any suspected asbestos.
  3. Wear gloves to protect the skin.
  4. Wet the area with water using a water spray bottle.
  5. Break off a small sample piece, atleast 1cm in diameter. You can do this with plyers or something similar.
  6. Place the sample into a zip locked bag. Then double wrap it and place into the other zip lock bag.
  7. Once the sample is taken and stored, the area needs to be sealed. You can use a spray bottle with water and PVA glue or paint to seal the location.
  8. Bring the sample to us in person or send to our office, please call 07 3102 3215 to confirm address.
